LAN PC Card Question...

Attempting to install Windows XP Professional on IBM ThinkPad with 3Com
Etherlink III PC Card (3C589C), but installation keeps "freezing" at point
during setup where Windows would be looking for drivers to support hardware
found.

Is this device simply not "compatible" with WinXP?

Thanx.

It's probably not compatible -- the drivers that I find for that card
on the 3Com web site don't list XP (or Windows 2000):

http://www.3com.com/products/en_US/result.jsp?selected=5&sort=effdt&sku=3C589C-COMBO&order=desc

I'd be surprised if XP supports an old combo card like that. If XP
drivers exist for it, you might be able to find them at
http://www.driverguide.com or http://www.pcdrivers.com

Remove the card before installing XP. Try installing the card after
XP is installed.
