LAN connection problem

Both machines are running XP Home. I am using Tiny Personal Firewall
2.0.15A but the problem occurs with the firewall on or turned off on
either or both machines. The TPF trusted IPs are set.

We'll call the machines A and B.

Both can see the drive icons of the other machine in Network
Neighborhood.

A can click on B's drive icons and see the files and folders.

B cannot open B's drive icons and see the files and folders. Error
message says no permission or not enough server storage space. Both
machines have 512M RAM and plenty of free HD space.

I compared all the properties, etc. in the Control Panel's Network
Connections between the two machines and they are the same except for the
IP number. Both use MSHOME for workgroup name. All drives on both
machines are set to share. Printer sharing doesn't work either A to B or
B to A.

Suggestions? I'm out of ideas and I really need to get this working.

TIA

Try turning off the firewall on both machines.

Start Network Wizard on the machine that has the internet connection.

Run Network Wizard on other.

Enable 'File and Print' sharing during the Wizard process.

This should reset all the settings, even those you haven't considered.

Ken,

The somewhat cryptic message "Not enough server storage is available to process
this command." is well known here. If this problem is related to your inability
to share files between two computers, the problem is with the computer sharing
the files.

New clues I hadn't noticed before.

A cannot see its own files either from Netwwork Neighborhood but can from
My Computer. So both machines can see B's files but neither A's files.
A's drives are all set to share.

I'm still working on the two previous responses to my original post but
have not had tiome to follow through yet. This morning, hopefully.

TIA

That got it! Thank you very much.

For today anyhow; who knows what tomorrow will bring - I've thought I
cured it before.

Ken,

I know the feeling, I've had it many times. Thanks for the feedback.
