lag

When I am playing Links 2003 online, I seem get intermittent signals from
server(s) that cause a millisecond delay during game play. This can be very
aggravating when you are a world class competitive gamer and the signals
cause the "swing meter" in the golf game to lag just enough to throw-off the
accuracy of your shot.

I have run adaware, spybot and my Anti-Virus had also not detected any
Trojans or other bugs in my system. This only happens when I connect to
servers. Anyone have a suggestion?

You left out the most important information: how are you connecting to
the Internet and also to which gaming servers are you trying to
connect? Cable in a neighborhood that has a lot of cable users? DSL
which is generally not fantastic for gaming? Trying to connect to game
servers being hosted on slower machines? Please repost with more
details about your setup for a more complete answer.

Two possibilities here. You either have a poor internet
connection. You didn't indicate if your were using dial-
up or highspeed or sometimes firewall software will cause
these problems. Try disabling your firewall when your
playing and see if that makes a difference. Good luck.

I have DSL, I have a software firewall combination with Pc-cillin 2003.
This has been disabled to see if that works. No difference. Here is the
message I posted in a Microsoft Newsgroup today.

When I play my Links 2003 online at the www.zone.com , I get Hard Drive
chatter which screws-up my meter swing to hit the golf ball. So far, the
only way to prevent this, is to close the Zone, the Zone Client and any
other web pages. How can I stop this yet still keep the web pages
minimized?

I have 512gbs RAM
Pentium 4 2ghz processor
MSCONFIG has been completely cleaned out of any unnecessary programs
There is no Spyware ( I run Ad-aware every day)
No viruses of any sort ( I scan everyday with Pc_cillin 2003)

Any ideas how to stop the Hard Drive Chatter and not close all my web pages?
