KVM problem with a7m266-d

I have an a7m266-d that is working fine. I bought a KVM so that I could
use the keyboard, video and mouse with my Thinkpad. The Thinkpad works
find with the KVM. The A7M266-d works fine if I stop in bios. But when I
continue on booting into my OS (Windows2k and Linux 9.0) the keyboard
and mouse quit working. The crt switches OK, so I get the display with
either the thinkpad or a7m266-d, the keyboard and mouse with the
thinkpad and not keyboard and mouse with either Win2k or Linus.

The asus works fine with the keyboard and mouse directly attached. I
tried another KVM and another set of cables and had the same problem.

Any idea of what the problem might be? It seems to be be centered on the
a7m266-d as it fails the same way on different OSs as well as with
different brands of KVM.

It might be the particular KVM switch you are using (and more importantly,
the mouse being used on the KVM). I have used two different revisions of the
Asus A7M266-D with a Belkin Omniview SE 4-port KVM, and have had no problems
(BUT, I have to use the right mouse with it). The problems with these KVM
switches sometimes is the mouse emulation. My Belkin originally only worked
well with a two-button mouse. If you use a scroll mouse, or a mouse with
more than two buttons, you may have a problem. I ended up getting a MS
Wheelmouse Optical mouse (2 buttons with scroll wheel), which emulates an
older two button MS mouse that was approved by Belkin. Works like a charm.

You may want to check the KVM manufacturer's website to see if your mouse
and/or keyboard is compatible with the KVM. If not , then you may want to
find compatible parts.

Good luck.
