Korean

Hi,

I would like to be able to write korean in windows. I am
in the US so therefore I probably have a us version of win
2000. What do I need in order to be able to do this. I
have tried to download languagepacks and I can see korean
in my emails and the web, but when I go to select korean
in for instance word it selects it but it still writes in
english.

Also when I go to regional settings in control panel I
can't select korea and in keyboard settings I don't have
korean as an option.

What should I do,

Thanks

Hi Christopher,

I set up Korean on my laptop with win2000. It's really easy:

go to control panel - keyboard - input locales and select Hangul from the
list. There are two or three hangul options; I installed them all. I don't
recall whether or not I needed the installation cd to do this but you should
have it on hand, just in case. Anyway, once you are on the input locales
tab, hit the add button. This will give you two pull down menus, one for the
input locale (language/character set) and the other for keyboard layout.

Hope this helps,

Mike

I am REALLY losing my marbles - 12 month old baby and no sleep ;) Neglected
to mention in the last post that you will get a floating toolbar with an A
and a Chinese character on it. If you click on the A, it should change to a
? and indicates that you are using the Hangul input locale. I also note that
my efforts at typing in Hangul in the last post didn't come through when the
message was posted... Will see if my Gee-uht comes through or not on this
one. My wife is the Korean speaker; I just fumble along.

Sorry about the numerous posts, this should be my last (he says, reaching
for a third cup of coffee).
