I went through this Thursday, how frustrating, got out my
dummies book and fixed it. If you loaded kodak software
with the camera and/or the dock attached to the comp,
(even if you didn't) uninstall the whole kodak program
and start over. (I had to take the batteries out of my
camera and re-install them, because the comp put my
camera to sleep, do that now, too.) start with a new
install of easyshare software (I did this three times
before I got out the book!) at the end of the
installation, don't let the comp shut down and re-start!
tell it you will shut down later. then turn it off. then
plug in your camera's power cord, then the usb cord (make
sure it's seated correctly in the dock.) then turn it
back on, when you click the start button you will see
that the computer has found new hardware! go up and look
in control panel, you should see the camera as a local
drive with removable memory, mine was drive 'E:' there's
also an icon in the tray on the taskbar! what happened?
xp wants to run everything with system drivers, when you
turned the computer on after connecting the camera, the
kodak software found it before xp got around to trying to
set a windows default driver and creating that 'nothing's
there' and 'no hardware found' crap. I hope this
