Known Microsoft Error - Exit Code of 80

Guest

I received the following error message from Norton Anti virus. I need the
help as indicated below:

Automatic LiveUpdate does not run on Windows XP, and the Symantec NetDetect
task displays an exit code of 80

Situation:
You are running Windows XP. Even though Automatic LiveUpdate is enabled, it
does not run.

If you look at the Symantec NetDetect task in the Windows Scheduled Tasks
program, in the Last Result column, you see an exit code of 80. The text
(ERROR_WAIT_NO_CHILDREN) may also be displayed.

Solution:
To open the Scheduled Tasks program

On the Windows taskbar, click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System
Tools > Scheduled Tasks.

Look at the Symantec NetDetect task. If it did not run, and in the Last
Result column you see an exit code of 80, this is caused by a known Microsoft
problem. To fix this, you must contact Microsoft Technical Support. For
instructions, read the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 812400, Scheduled
Tasks May Not Run and Generate an Exit Code of 80.

How do I receive this technical support?

Hi

Scheduled Tasks May Not Run and Generate an Exit Code of 80
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=812400

Either upgrade to SP2, or call for the hotfix mentioned in the link
above.

As the article states, you need to call Microsoft Product Support Services to
obtain it (outside the US, customers should contact their local Microsoft
subsidiary.). The support call will be be free as long as you refer to the
Knowledge Base Article number (812400) and ask for nothing more.

You will need to find the phone number from here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;[LN];CNTACTMS

In the wizard, Select WinXP, and Basic, and then "It was purchased separately"

For USA, you end up here
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;en-us;Prodoffer31

Use phone number 425-635-3311
