for those who might not know, knoppix is the easiest way to start using
linux.
Its a bootable cd or dvd that loads on your computer when you boot with the
cd/dvd inside
and you have a linux desktop without touching your windows installation

enjoy and dont be afraid of linux, this penguin doesnt bite ;-)

Dont run into conclusions too fast...

Ok Linux doesn't have the friendliest GUI, but MS has its own problems;
vista office 2007, Ie7 and WMP11 have big problems that I have addressed and
given as feedback to the MS team.

It seems however that MS is ignoring too many people, and that linux will
give a good chance to
evolve and take a good percentage of the desktop market. Its n ot impossible
you know...

To me it seems that MS is putting themselves in a bad position, that no
competitor could ever have done.

We will see.. everything is still being worked on, and I may be proven
wrong..... perhaps they will fix things
before RTM.

The Linux platform doesnt have a real problem.. all it needs is a better GUI
and some other improvments to
make it more user friendly.

Its gonna happen... there is no doubt about it. We will just have to see how
exactly it will manifests.

While MS is trying to defend and offend with DRM, activations, and lawsuites
(negative strategies)
linux has something that makes it far more attravtive and natural. Its free
and it becomes whatever the people
wants it to become. Ubuntu indeed has a correct name, from an african word.
See the www.ubuntu.com site to find out its meaning.

For the time bieng I work with MS products and use linux out of interest,
but I know things could turn around.

FYI: It is 501 already. Ver 5.0 had been out for several weeks.

CDrom and DVD images, the latter is 4.7 GB large.

Which file should be downloaded for CD? The .EN.iso file, or the
..EN.iso.md5 file? I'm very new to CD burning.

I can only find the German version. Do any of the mirrors have an
English version? Thanks.
