I've received my new licensing information for Vista and on the Vista key it
describes it as KMS, can anyone tell me what it means?

google does a really nice job... give it a shot. no waiting either!

Hi John,

It means you need an activation server and at least 25 installations on the
local network. From where did you receive this?

Hello John,
This article links to publically available information on Volume Licensing
for Windows Vista:
929712 Volume Activation information for Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;929712

This includes the Step by Step Guide, the FAQ and other more technical
documents, plus a webcast link.
Thanks,

Shouldn't your response be the same to the hundreds of duplicate questions
posted on the forum? I did a search of "Update" and found over a thousand
questions and answers. I wish more people would do a search before posting.
