Hi All,

I am having a problem with opening up a shared Access database and was
wondering if anyone can advise. Our office has three employees that use this
database... with one user, the only way they can open up this database (when
another employee is in the database) is to launch Access, then go through the
"File" menu, then "Open". If this one user tries to double-click on the
Access File (yes, the .mdb, not the .ldb) through the file manager or file
explorer, her PC just lays there like a bored hooker and Access does not
launch. I only have this one user that is having this problem, the other user
and I have no issues in getting the database by double-clicking the file. Any
help or advice is appreciated.

1. Split the database into a frontend and backend.
2. Put a copy of the frontend on each user's computer.
3. Delete the frontend on your network.

Do not delete the copy of your front-end on the network. It should be there
as a replacement, should anyone corrupt their individual copy of the
front-end. It is advisable to put the network copy in a folder labeled as an
archive or backup so that it won't be used inadvertently.
