Killing WGA

Microsoft never receives any money for pirated, illegal versions
of Windows XP in the first place. Microsoft does have a program
that enables unsuspecting users a way to obtain and install a genuine
version of Windows XP at a greatly reduced price.

M$ receives the bulk of their money through sales to the large OEMS that
sell PC's with Windows installed.

So how is $149 a greatly reduced price !? And is that XP Home or Pro, I've
heard no distinction.

If you consider that a greatly reduced price, then you must be getting
ripped off on that closet full of retail XP CD's you have.
And in the future, if a Windows XP user wishes to upgrade to
the upcoming Windows Vista operating system, that will have
to have a "genuine version" of Windows XP in order to upgrade.

Uh, yeah. So you're saying that none of the groups out there will release
pirated Vista versions ?

But Carey, the question remains...

'Which of the 12 !!! different methods do/don't work ?'

Which ones have YOU tried, examined, or otherwise analyzed ?

That's better - can read that - but have read it already - it was
posted a couple of days ago in this or another group.
But with my tech ability I cant say I found one method with which I
would be comfortable :-( :-(
I will have to wait until I can use Add/Remove - though I may not have
enough years left!

Another poster says that this program will keep WGA from starting, I use the
full version and believe that it's worth the $$$

Not man enough to answer the question!

No surprise, that is for sure.

He can't answer it because most likely he hasn't tried any of them.

Of course he hasn't. That is what my problem is..... with Carey's attitude.

He probably hasn't even read through the entire web page. Most likely his
Microsoft masters tell him what they want to be known as 'truth's', but he
never investigates these so-called truth's, NEVER questions his Master, and
basically live's inside the M$ 'box'.

Hi Dan,

That's totally unfair.

I happen to know Carey, and he is a man who stands by his convictions. His
views are his own and dictated by no one.

While I frequently disagree with his strict interpretation of the EULAs, I
admire his steadfast resolve in posting his views here despite the abuse the
posts usually bring down on him.

Just as many here attack Kurt for his views on WPA and WGA, we have Carey
being attacked at the opposite end of the spectrum.

The truth lies somewhere between the extremes, but at least we have a forum
where Kurt and Carey can post their views, debate their points, and allow
everyone the chance to make an informed decision.

Maybe a little harsh, but I was asking for his reasons on why none of those
techniques to uninstall the WGA package work. And there had been no
response. I guess there's no debating my points.

What truth? I rarely avoid answering a direct question put to me.
Carey avoids them like the plague.

When Carey stated, "That's because the author of the hack found out its
a bogus hack that will not work....," he was full of sh*t. I can admit
my mistakes. I have yet to see Carey admit to any of his.

Another example. OEM licensing and Carey's motherboard is the computer
nonsense. If asked to quote the EULA or the SBL where it says anything
like that, he will never do it.

Carey is deranged. I am a rational human being. And in between are
various degrees of irrationality.

Steadfast? The dude is totally beyond all reason!

They are still wrong.

He recieves the due criticism that he calls upon himself. I wouldn't
call it abuse. Some folk tend to be a bit "harsh" about it, but the guy
asked him a valid question and he chickened out.

Attack is a very strong word. At least Kurt responds and backs up his
statements as best he can. Carey is aparently too egotistical to lower
himself to actually discussing things with the rest of us, the best he
does is resort to calling someone who disagrees with him a troll.
The truth lies somewhere between the extremes, but at least we have a forum

The truth is that which is so. The rest is conjecture, speculation and
opinion.
