Who is "us"? I left the Vista group. This is the XP group. I am running
XP on two computers and have subscribed to this group now for years.

You will not find me promoting Ubuntu here but only asking and giving
help regarding XP.

Last nite I thought I would give the "dark side" a try and downloaded Ubuntu
Linux iso.........burned it to a CD and ran off the CD for awhile..Needed to
use Safe Video Mode inorder to see the screen clearly( 7800GT/ Digital LCD
Monitor).I liked it.
So I thought lets install it to that 3rd empty drive I have.........it
seemed to install ok...took a long time but upon restart no GUI....just an
error message.
DOS type screen ask for user name.......then the error message about no GUI
and to see the error log(?)
Any hints??

I don't know. Did you try rebooting again? As I really don't want to get
into Ubuntu related questions here, I would recommend that you ask the
folks over at alt.os.linux.ubuntu as there are people there that know a
lot more about Ubuntu than I do.

you. Not here.
