Keys to press to restore a Dell laptop

A

AnytimeAnywhere

I recently wanted to restore a Dell Inspiron 6000 with Windows XP Pro back
to factory defaults. I tried to get into the setup program during the boot
up process by pressing ESC, F2, F8, F10, and F12. None of these keys
produced the menu that would allow me to restore Windows. I called Dell,
but the technician wouldn't tell me.

Does anybody know the correct key(s) to press while booting to get to a
restore menu?

Thanks,

John

Try booting from your restore CD-Rom

According to the instructions on page 71 of the manual for your
laptop, you need to hit the Ctrl + F11 key combination at
bootup to start the reinstall procedure.

Do yourself a favor, first go to Dell's support site and
download a copy of the manual for your laptop. Next, contact
Dell and get them to send you an XP Pro installation CD. It may
cost you, but it will be worth it in the long run.

Good luck
