My 87 year old Mother keeps hitting the control key instead of shift. Thus,
when typing a capitol "A" she deletes the ntire message when she types the
next letter. Is there any way to temporarily disablt the control keys?
Thank you

Pry the key off... you can always put it back on.

There are programs that will let you reassign different keys. But you
might teach her to press Ctrl/Z to undo the changes.

Here are three programs I found to possibly remap the keys:

Try KeyTweak, at http://webpages.charter.net/krumsick/. It's free.

Remapper XP v1.0
http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,22100,00.asp

This program is supposed to allow keyboard remapping.
