Is there a keyboard shortcut that will allow me to go back to the last place
in the text that my cursor was on? For example, my cursor is clicked on in
the middle of a document, then I go elsewhere in the document, can I use a
shortcut to go back to the last place I was in the document?

If you were actually editing at the previous location, try Shift+F5. If you
clicked on a hyperlink to get to the place where you are now, try Alt+Left
Arrow.

I have not used Word 2007, so I can't say for sure, but (a) I believe there
is some setting in Word 2007 that must be set to allow you to use the
keyboard shortcuts from earlier versions and (b) the GoBack command is
somewhat flaky even in previous versions; see
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/apperrors/GoBackFix.htm.

Word Options, Customize, Keyboard Shortcuts Customize where ALT-F5 is
already

Alt+F5 or Shift+F5? As I say, I think there's a check box that allows you to
use legacy shortcuts.

As I say, I don't have Word 2007 installed, but perhaps someone who does can
help.

AFAICT the shortcut key combination is working.

What appears to have changed is the way that the Goback command itself
works. I searched in Help for "goback" and found no hits - even when
searching "All Office Online" so will have to do some more checking to be
completely sure but it appears that goback works across multiple documents
within a Word session and that history is not saved with individual
documents (even if saved in 97-2003 format).

I find that if I have several documents open in Word 2003, pressing Shift+F5
in one of them often takes me back to the last edit point in a different
one, which is *not* what I expect or want.
