Keyboard Registry Error-XP

Guest

I had a Dell keyboard (not bluetooth) hooked upon an HP with XP. It has
worked on that comp for over a year now. I turned it on the other day and if
you press any keys on the keyboard, nothing comes out of it and the comp
hangs, with a blinking cursor. I looked in the hardware, it gives me a code
19 error that says the registry is corrupt. I uninstalled the keyboard.
Tried to reinstall it and got the same thing. So I uninstalled it again,
took the Dell keyboard off and put a generic microsoft keyboard on it. It
will not recognize the generic keyboard and when I try to get it to recognize
it, it still finds the corrupted Dell. When I start it in safe mode, the
same thing happens. But, the generic keyboard works in the computer set up
area and at command prompts. Please help.

Sounds like some Windows System files have become corrupt in some
way. I hate to say it but you might have to reinstall Windows to fix
it.
