I was typing a paper in WOrd when I accidentally switched the keyboard function to such that the letters printed on the keyboard are not the ones showing up on the screen. How do I switch over to NORMAL mode?
That depends a great deal on your keyboard. Many laptops and wireless keyboards have a "F" (function) key. Hitting it can change the behavior of your keystrokes.

on your screen, checkout the keyboard language in Windows to ensure it
matches what you should be using.
