Keyboard problems

I am having keyboard problems on Win XP with a PS2 keyboard. When I
press the . key it minimizes or maximizes my browser window. When I
press the m key I get a word search tab. The , key. On my sons laptop
same problem when I press any of the keys that have a letter & number I
have to use the ctrl key to get the letter to work or it will type the
number. Guess who has been using Dad's PC? I am able to use these
letters by using on-screen keyboard and clicking the letters with my
mouse. Does anyone know what's going on and if so how to fix it?

I am having similar but different problems. For example, when I press the
space bar, I get a "b ". When I press "f" I get "f/". When I press "v", I get
a line return or a tab. When I press "t", it takes the place of the previous
letter. When I press "backspace", I get a "t". And there is more. It isn't
the keyboard, because sometimes it lets you type normally for a few lines,
and then changes. I checked for viruses and there are none. Suggestions would
be much appreciated.
