keyboard merge

I know Wordperfect has a keyboard merge, does Word have the same? Not forms
because that doesn't work for what I need as well.

Some non-Wordperfect users (me, for example), don't know what WP's "keyboard
merge" feature is. So, it's hard to say if Word has something similar. Can
you describe what you're talking about?

You can just put a keyboard merge command any place in your document and run
merge and it stops and promts you what to put in at that point. You set up
the prompts yourself. It's filling out a form but you do not have to lock it
like forms in Word. I'm a Word 2003 user.

See if a Fill-in field does what you want. Insert - Fields - set Categories
to All, select the Fill-in field.
