Keyboard Macro Recomendation Request

M

magmike

I am using WindowsXP SP3

I am looking for recommendations on a Macro program that can record
and repeat keyboard strokes and mouse movements - but mostly keyboard
strokes.

However, this is for my work computer and a program I was using
stopped working right when my admin priveledges were taken off (they
were left in place accidentally) as this program stores the macros in
the registry. So I am looking for a program that doesn't store the
macros in the registry, and a program whose program folder could be
copied to this computer without install and work correctly (I did this
once before with Automate before they took away the cheaper version)
as I do not have admin rights to install.

I know this asking alot, but if anyone has any suggestions...

Thanks in advance for your help!

If you're using the macros for Office products, most of them have the ability to create them from within the program.

A quick Google shows 867,000 hits. A little research should get you what you want:

If your company would OK it, you could always get a Microsoft keyboard with the macro keys. I have a Sidewinder X4 that
works really well for that sort of thing. It allows up to 18 different macros:

You can also use DOSKEY, depending on how complicated your macros get:

We use Macro Express. Works very well.

The macros are easily edited.

I don't know if you can just copy over the program (that is rare among
windoze apps nowadays) but the program can be installed on multiple
computers without a problem.

I tried a few freebie programs before that and none worked properly.

Free:
Autohotkey works for me. There's a function called autoscriptwriter
that will simplify creating each macro - You don't have to do much (or
any) editing. You can store the macros anywhere.
