Keyboard locks, will not return

On several different versions of windows on several
different machines, I've run into the problem of the
keyboard suddenly locking. The only way I've found to
correct this is to reboot the machine. I'm not really
interested in troubleshooting, since it seems to be a
random problem that exists on most Windows machines.

However, I would like to know if there is another way to
have the machine re-"find" the keyboard so I don't have
to reboot. I work "near" the helpdesk at my work and
they've had the same thing happen several times recently,
and I'm sure they would love the info as well.

Thanks

Dave

If it's usb, unplug it, plug it back in.

Are you sure it's a keyboard issue, and not that the computer has stalled?
Can you still open menus, etc. with the mouse? Perhaps look in the event log
and see if there's a warning, and check the device manager and see if
there's a hardware problem noted there.
