Keyboard issues

Q

My desktop computer is having an issue with it's keyboard. When I go
to put in my password to logon to windows, nothing is typed. I can
confirm that the keyboard is not getting any power supplied to it since
neither the caps lock light or the num lock light up when pushed.
What's a little more puzzling is that windows does not usually load
when it cannot find a keyboard attached. The keyboard does not power
on at all. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard,
but to no avail. Yes, I have tried shutting down the computer and
booting it back up. I should also note that the keyboard is connected
via ps2. Is there anything I could do or did my keyboard decide to die
on me?

Try another keyboard, a wire in the cable could of broken.

While rare, it's possible for the keyboard plug in to break loose from
the mother board - solder it back in place or replace the MoBo.

Or replace the PS2 keyboard with a USB keyboard. Cheaper than a new mobo.

If it were me, I'd just buy another keybopard. You can find them for under
$10US. Or you might want to borrow a friend's keyboard first, to see if it
fixes it.
