Keyboard in Word very sluggish

I also am having a problem with my keyboard while in MS
Word only (2002). While I am typing, about every other
letter is left out & sometimes several letters. I have
installed all updates, use Norton w/curren definitions,
have spyware blaster program installed & have deleted all
temporary internet files. I have 256 RAM & cannot figure
out what the heck is going on. This just started
recently. I changed keyboards but to no avail. Help!!!

This maybe caused by a recent virus, though usually, it stops the keyboard
from working at all in Word and other Office apps only.
