Keyboard hangs

A few days ago, after rebooting the PC, the system came up, but the keyboard
was frozen. The numlock light was lit, but nothing else would work. Powered
off and tried a different keyboard. Same thing.

I can remote into the machine and if I delete the keyboard from the hardware
mgr, the keyboard will be recognized again and start working.

Very strange. Any thoughts?

that's wierd...
i had something like that happen, but it was a different problem---a
problem with Windows SP2. I simply uninstalled it from command prompt,
but your problem seems to be different.
maybe check on the knowledge base of microsoft---kbase.microsoft.com
check it out!

Ya i got a suggestion!
It could be the wrong driver installed.
Check with the company you bought the computer from or take the
keyboard out of the socket, and put it in again.
or you can do a connected hardware search...
search at the microsoft knowledge base

Thanks for the suggestions. Already tried the KB (first thing I look at).
No help there. Also no errors in the event log or on boot.

This system has been running for about a year with no problems.

KB is a standard OLD IBM (as in the only keyboard worth having) 101 key PS/2
keyboard. No driver issues there. As stated, tried two different keyboards.

This is really becoming a PITA!
