Keyboard error on boot up

I recently added a USB card with a PCI interface to one of my expansion
slots. It gives me 4 extra USB ports. I have plugged the keyboard and mouse
into one of these extra ports. Whenever I boot up the computer, before
loading Windows, it says Keyboard error, press F4 and then continues booting.
I was wondering what causes this message and how can I get it to go away
short of plugging the mouse into the USB port on the board.

The mouse and keyboard work OK, the message is just annoying

Might try going into the bios and see if you have any usb keyboard options
to enable.

Not sure why you're worried about where the mouse is plugged in since POST
reports a missing keyboard...

Before Windows loads, your system's POST is doing a check for the presence
of a keyboard. It is not finding one, so it displays a notice. The system
continues to boot, Windows is now communicating with the added USB ports
and, consequently, the keyboard.

You may be able to eliminate the startup message by changing BIOS settings
that relate to a USB keyboard. However, to eliminate the message you may
need to connect the keyboard to one of the older USB ports so that it is
successfully noted during POST.

Another alternative, if available in your BIOS settings, is to turn off the
"stop on error" for keyboard detection.
