Keyboard " displays as @ & vice versa

Using XP Pro, on my computer we have 5 user accounts set
up. On 2 user accounts only, when the " key is pressed
we type a @, and vice versa. I have just installed a new
keyboard, but that can't have caused the problem, as it
has been happening for months (not sure exactly how long -
my user account doesn't do it) . Does anyone know what
is happening, and more importantly, how to fix it?

Thanks

You probably have them set to UK keyboard layout. In these accounts go to
Regional and Language options / Languages / Details... and make sure that
the Default input language corresponds to the kind of keyboard in use. You
may need to add the keyboard to the list.

You either have a US keyboard, but a UK layout in use or vice versa.
(The US keyboard has @ as shift 2, the UK one has ") Go to Control Panel
- Regional And Language Options. Take the Language page and click
Details.

There if you do not see the desired layout under Keyboard for English in
the lower pane, click on Add and search for it in the lower drop down,
so you have English (as desired) and United Kingdom *or* United States
in those two panes. Click OK. Then in the parent page, select this
combination in the Default Input language in the top drop down, Apply,
OK and Apply any time it is available on the way as you OK out. Then
close and restart to bring it into use.
