Keyboard and mouse/touchpad dont work

I rebooted XP Pro and the arrow is in the middle of the
screen and the leyboard does absolutely nothing, and
neither does the mouse or touchpad. Previously I did turn
on a couple of services related to Remote Connections to
prepare to connect to my other computer. I also installed
Laplink Gold 11, which is why I restarted. I think it had
been a few days since I rebooted. When I tried repairing
with the install cd they still dont work. It does work in
the Dos-like repair mode. I am now installing it into
another directory. I figure if this is a simple windows
mistake then it shouldnt be so serious. I feel like there
was some undetected virus or trojan or something. Please
help, Thank you

all works with installing, so is it possible, if it isnt the drivers, or a virus, that I can import all my settings via registry to the new windows directory? What is a way I can get all my settings back?

I dont know what the hell to do. The driver files are there, and even if I could ghost or copy registry settings I dont want to copy the problem. Even F8 modes dont work. XP loads, and there is no mouse or keyboard action whatsoever.
WHAT THE HELL DO I DO?
