Keyboard after win install UK mode

I installed win xp and the regions were in UK i switched the region to US but my keyboard is still in UK format the characters aren't matching what is being typed. any ideas?
 
Hi,

Control Panel/Regional and Language Options/Languages tab, click details. On
the Settings tab, changed the default keyboard language.

that work for the system files but on the internet it is doing the same thing. is there a setting in IE that can change that?

From IE, click tools/Internet Options, on the general tab click the
languages button.
