Every time i hit the ' T ' or 't' key I get an additional 'a' next to them! ie 'Ta' and 'ta'.
Please help.I am a new member and i don't know yet how this site works!

No...that's not it! It happened yesterday while using an excel file.Remember using the Caps lock at the time.Maybe it has to do with the ALT key as i may have pressed it accidentally?
It could be that you accidentally toggled your keyboard language setting. Have you tried pressing the combination of Ctrl + Shift, to see whether it will toggle back to normal?
