Zelator

I have done everything INCLUDING A FULL RESTALL and now i find i am not alone
in my problem as there is a growing army of laptop users having thier touch
pad and keyboard knocked out by i believe an issue with SP3 and the human
interface update that is messing with peoples configurations .......in vista
they are reporting a file driver called
Go to C:\windows\system32\drivers. Find the file "idcphid.sys" and rename it
to anything, such as "idcphidMODIFIED .IdeaCom's update did this to you.

That was taken off a forum for vista but i cannot find the file in XP
.........but my problems did start after i update with sp3.......but now after
a full install the touchpad isnt being recognized and upon restarting my
laptop the keyboard stays live (pressing fn shows an active light ) but as
soon as you touch anyother key ,the whole keyboard dies ...............pre
start up the keyboard works fine .

I am so annoyed i lost all my file to a fresh install when it is this human
interface thing in sp3

Thanks for trying to address this Joseph but i have all the right drivers
from Toshiba but what i have narrowed it down to is this (sorry for the long
one ) .

I have Equium M50 (59E) and got bitten by an update that took out my
touchpad and keyboard .I have made fresh install of XP Home and have all
updated drivers and all is going well .The last update i cant seem to fathom
is for
Driver Ana _2005_10_24_V1.2 it is for ,Standard Open HCD USB Host
Controller........X 2 .........

The update fixes all kinds of issues of the kind i am having and is a
recomended update from Driver detective ,that i use offten .

The trouble is it says to uninstall drivers for the one i have installed
allready and when i do this it knocks off my USB mouse leaving me not able to
install the new ones .When i reboot it installs the ones i dont want
reinstalled .

This is the read me off the new update and realy it is beyond me to
underdstand what to do ............so here it is ?

Hi Zelator,

If I am understanding you correctly, what you are saying is
that when you uninstall the old driver, you no longer have a
pointing device to work with.

If that is the case, couldn't you use the 'Accessibility
Wizard' to set up a mouse controller as your embedded
numeric keypad. It will be cumbersome to use, but once you
have the correct driver installed, you can then turn it off
since you won't need it any more.

BTW, my given name is 'C.Joseph' NOT 'Joseph'.

Sincerely,
C.Joseph Drayton, Ph.D. AS&T
