Kernell32.dll errors

My laptop won't bootup in windows properly.

The other night i was using it and it shut down for somereason, thinking
nothing of it as i belive the battery just went flat.

So i charged it up and used it this morning, although when it got to the
windows desktop all the software that was loading had the windows error
messages, saying kernell32.dll errors etc, and any software that i tried to
run eg AVG's or spyware or infact any software wouldn't run said it had
kernell32.dll errors.

What is likely to be the problem and how can i fix it? i do not want to do a
fresh install.

sorry i can't be anymore specific

Hi,

Click start/run, type cmd and click ok. From the prompt, run "chkdsk C: /r"
(without the quotes). You will not be able to run this as the drive is in
use and cannot be dismounted, but you will be prompted to run it on a system
restart. Use this option, then exit and restart the system. The check may
take quite some time, so make sure the laptop is plugged in, do not leave it
on battery power.

Hi,

Does it do this in all user accounts, or just the one? And is this WinXP, or
an older operating system? Kernel32.dll errors were common in Win98/WinME
systems.

Hi,

Any chance you have Roxio's GoBack software installed? This is known to
cause these errors.
