Getting the above error after power on the LT for a short while.
0x00000077 (0xc02016a0, 0xc0000000E, .......)
The Event viewer gives a different event each time
such as: EVENT
SRTP 5
SRTP 4
SRTP 20
Service Control Manager 7000
where/do do I resolve this to get the LT going ? thanks

At what point is the system automatically rebooting? Whilst booting or
later?

Are you able to boot into safe mode?

Does a BSOD ever occur in Safe Mode? If you boot in normal mode does it
always result in a BSOD?

What is your Windows XP CD as it is described on the face of the CD?

What is your computer make and model? How old is it?

Do you have access to a second computer? If yes is it a desktop or
laptop?

In Normal mode, there is no fix place it reboot itself, sometimes while I was
doing some work like typing a doc. Like wise, when in Safre mode, it can
reboot after the desktop or doing some processing work. This is an HP labtop
about 5 years old, XP HOME v2002 sp2 as seen under properties.

What is your Windows XP CD as it is described on the face of the CD?

It's the CD I am interested in! Not the present status of the operating
system on the computer.

A useful tool for checking Hard Drives is HD Tune.

Try running HD Tune(freeware).

Download and run it and see what it turns up.

Select the Info tabs and place the cursor on the drive under Drive
letter and then double click the two page icon ( copy to Clipboard )
and copy into a further message.

Select the Health tab and then double click the two page icon ( copy
to Clipboard ) and copy into a further message. Also do a full surface
scan with HD Tune.

Just turned off the automatic restart and re run the various can. So far it
can "never" finish the houscall scan before it restart it self.

Are you trying to run Housecall in normal mode or safe mode? You should
always run anti-virus scans in safe mode if you suspect a problem. If it
is restarting in safe mode I may be able to make another way to scan.

If your RAM memory is made up of more than one stick and if so this
offers a simple way to check for faulty memory. Open the computer casing
and carefully remove one memory card (stick) from it's slot and run the
computer with it removed to see whether the problem occurs. Repeat the
process putting the first memory card back in and removing the second
memory card and test that card. Make sure you allow sufficient time for
an error to occur. When removing the card you will need to lift a
retaining clip each end of the memory card to allow it to be removed.
Take great care not to touch the motherboard. You can also get an
Anti-Static wrist band from a computer store to prevent a static
electricity discharge from you damaging the motherboard.

The system log in Event Viewer could yield clues as to the nature of the
problem.

Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in
the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for the last boot. No
Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate which also appear in
a previous boot.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer.Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties,
Hardware,Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?

Run the Housecall in normal mode. After scanning with all the tools and
deleted some minor infections, the pc run for a few hours before the BSOD
appears with the error
0x0000007A (0xXXXXXXX......) atapi.sys add F74A7CA8 ........

I cannot say for sure whether the frequncy of BSOD is more when connected to
internet then when it is not connected. It takes quite a while to scan and it
did not happen (BSOD) when I used any one of them

Device Manager - no ? marks, all drivers are present.
2 sticks of Ram and not tested the ram yet. Somestimes BSOD happened with
either one or when both sticks inserted in the LTop.

Go to Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, View, Advanced Settings and
verify that the box before "Show hidden files and folders" is checked
and "Hide protected operating system files " is unchecked. You may need
to scroll down to see the second item. You should also make certain that
the box before "Hide extensions for known file types" is not checked.
Next in Windows Explorer make sure View, Details is selected and then
select View, Choose Details and check before Name, Type, Total Size, and
Free Space.

Now open Windows Explorer and locate atapi.sys at the location indicated
above. Place the cursor on atapi.sys, right click and select Properties.
Note the file version, size (not size on disk), and modified date.

I try to run HDTune and it cannot install. I run the memtest and both rams
passed the test. Since I still get the error, so I decided to do 'Repair' but
along the way, it says Set-up cannot copy files like "cyzcoins.chm", and
other times files like "dder.dll"

So I decided to reformat it and twice {Set-up is formatting "stuck at 27%".}
Does that means my hdd is gone or the cd-rom had its day?

You could have more than one problem.

Your Windows XP CD could be damaged. That would explain the inability to
do a Repair Install and a Clean Install. I cannot see why your CD drive
should be faulty if is start to install.

It seemed that there was a problem relating to the hard drive controller
or it's driver. Whether the hard drive is faulty is uncertain. You could
test it by installing it as a slave in another computer.

You are approaching the point where you need to consider whether the
cost of restoring the computer exceeds it's value.
