It doesn't delete it it clears it. It normally doesn't bother clearing info as normally only it can read it and it will take a long time. It is not a good thing but a bad thing to do unless you're worried someone is going to read your swap file (a random collection of jumbled data you've been working on).
Unless people are spying on you, cos they want to steal from you and are willing to put the effort in, then it just slows down shutdown.

David,
So I take it that if I am running XP Pro and load this
tweak my system will delete the pagefile.sys each time I
boot. This will simplify defragging and generally better
system performance? Is this a good thing?
Also... what is Trillian?
Thanks,
Rich

Description
Determines whether the virutal memory pagefile should be
cleared when the system is shut down.
Windows 2000 virtual memory support uses a system
pagefile to swap pages of memory to disk when they are
not being actively used. On a running system, this
pagefile is opened exclusively by the operating system
and is well protected. However, systems that are
configured to allow booting to other operating systems
might want to ensure that system pagefile is wiped clean
when Windows 2000 shuts down. This ensures that sensitive
information from process memory that might have made it
into the pagefile is not available to an unauthorized
user who has managed to directly access the page file.
When this policy is enabled, it causes the system
pagefile to be cleared upon clean shutdown. Enabling this
security option also causes the hibernation file
(hiberfil.sys) to be zeroed out when hibernation is
disabled on a laptop system.
When this policy is disabled, the virtual memory
pagefile is not cleared during system shutdown.
This policy is defined by default in Local Computer
Policy, where it is disabled by default.

Kelly,
What does your "Clear system cache on boot" tweak do ?
Does it delete the Pagefile.sys?
Thanks,
Rich

Hi Marcy,
Which one exactly are you needing help with? The information provided on my
Tweaks page may seem vague; however, they are strong pointers pertaining to
specific issues used via the groups for many XP users.
Good luck!

Hi- reading these NG's, I am seeing lots of advice
telling viewers to go to Kelly tweaks web site for more
info-I too was refered to go there and which # would help
me with my question-
BUT, I thought that that web site was a place to go to
get answers to our specific questions-When I clicked on
the one that I needed help with, I clicked 'save' instead
of "download" to speed things up-then I went to my
documents and there it was and when I clicked on it to
view it, ther was the HKEY....etc registry thing. And of
course, by clicking on a specific part, it would go to
that area of the registry- But why and for what??
I guess my nieve question is What is Kellys website for,
who does it work, what do the things downloaded do. I
tried looking for the answers on that web site but could
not find anything-Simple 'english' would really help,
please.
