Kelly on Speeding Up IE

MVP Kelly has a tweak to speed up browsing at Item 79 at
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/speedup.reg.

The tweak really does work, at least for subjective speed. It seems that an
initial hesitation is eliminated. Does anyone know what this tweak actually
does? Moreover, if there's an easy way to make IE faster, why doesn't the
tweaked version come standard?

Your right! I've seen this tweak at Kelly's site many times but skipped over
it, but it does seem to work.

just searching google with one of the reg keys in that file came up with
lot's of hits:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF&btnG=Google+Search

....within some of those hits it talks about deleting the registry entry
{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF} (which looking inside the reg it does)
...gives faster webpage navigating because it gives up priority to DNS lookup.

searching google for that other entry mentiond in speedup, shows some hits
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D}]&btnG=Search
..that talks about that it may help to speed up network browsing and where
content displaying is sluggish when browsing the "Network" with explorer. It
says it's most noticeable when going from Windows 2000/XP to Windows 9X/ME
machine and also that when browsing network resources Windows 2000/XP will
try to find shared printers and scheduled tasks on the computer you try to
connect to. ..anyway they say to delete that subkey
{2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D} for printers and even say delete an
extra one for tasks too {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}

...and so that about sums it up I guess for each situation it addresses.
I may try it since it's so easy to reverse.

Sorry, I had the verbiage swapped in my above post and it should of said:

Deleting this key is for speeding up network browsing

And other keys are for doing dns priority, etc... but better yet you can read
about it yourself at the links I gave above and here too half way down page:
