Keeping My Documents Private.

I just got this computer and I have always had my documents separate from the
other users in my family. However, with this computer, I am unable to keep
others from viewing my documents. I did use a file transfer program other
than the Microsoft one, and I cannot seem to keep my documents private. Any
ideas on how to do this? Even the guest account can view all of them. Thank
you.

Also when I go into the Properties box to 'make my folders private,' it is
unhighlted to give me that option. That is the problem, I believe.

You might want to take a look at this article:

You Cannot Select the "Make This Folder Private" Option
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q307286/

Check in My Computer and find out if the drive that your My
Documents folder is located, usually your C drive, is formatted
FAT32 instead of NTFS. Right click on the C drive and select
Properties from the menu. The file system will be displayed on
the General page.

If the file system turns out to be the problem don't be so
quick to convert the hard drive to NTFS. The computer
manufacturer set it up that way for a reason. The only new
systems I've seen that have Windows installed on a FAT32
partition also have the Windows installation files stored in a
hidden partition on the hard drive. They don't give you a CD.
It's possible that if you convert the drive Windows is
installed on to NTFS it may make things difficult if you ever
have to reinstall Windows. You might want to check with the
manufacturer first.

Good luck
