Keeping Dashes Together - Impossible?

Hi there,

I've used Ctrl Shift Spacebar to keep words together, but
it doesn't work with dashes. I've used Ctrl Shift Hyphen
but at the end of a line, it still doesn't keep hyphens
together

I've inserted the en dash as a symbol and done a non
breaking space between them but one always flops down to
the next line and they separate.

Basically I need to keep two dashes (ideally), or two
hyphens from separating at the end of a line & can't do
it. They must stay -
- together one line or the other, but they don't

Is there anyway to wed dashes together until death do
they part?

If you substitute an em dash for a hyphen, Word will break the line after
the dash but not before. Same with an en dash, but if you put spaces before
and after, it can break anywhere. To keep two hyphens together, use one
nonbreaking hyphen followed by one regular one; Word will break the line
after the second hyphen but not before the first.
