keeping cell fill colour when sorting

Hi folks,

I'm using Excel to generate basketball competion standings on my site.
Because I'm not using borders I try to make it easier to read by using an
alternate cell fill colour: 1st line yellow, 2nd line no fill, 3rd line
yellow etc.
When using the data sort function not only the data gets sorted but the cell
fill colour moves around as well messing up my neat colour layout.
Is there a way to sort data without touching the cell fill colour?
