Keep using Sql Mobile 3.0 with VS2008

I recently upgrade my Compact Framework 2 application from VS2005 to VS2008,
(still using CF2).
keep using SQL Mobile 3 references, but it looks like the DataSet designer
requires the use of SQL Mobile 3.5.
Is it possible to continue using SQL Mobile 3 in VS2008 solutions ?
