Keep restore on when also have backup data?

If I do image backups and daily incrementals using Ghost, Is there a
reason I should keep the XP System restore feature on? I do a baseline once
a month and then daily incrementals with Ghost 9.

Turns out, if I have the XP Restore on, then Ghost wont do incrementals,
only the large baseline backups and thats uses up a lot of space when
backing every day. I have 44gb on my drive..

My thought is that doing it by Ghost means I restore everything, even apps
from the date chosen, whereas XP Restore only restores system data...drivers
and such. So the only problem may be a longer restore from my backup drive
vesus using the XP Restore.

What do you think? Since If I keep Restore on Ghost wont do small backs..

Your choice really, but if your backup routine is that rigorous, then yes
you can disable SR. About the only thing SR really gives you is a faster
roll back of an oh-oh.

Wow - that's a pretty drastic backup schedule.
With something like that, the only thing System Restore MIGHT give you is a
bit faster restore.

Uh, but System Restore often does not always work......"Windows cannot
restore the computer to...blah,blah". Windows Restore will NOT help
you when your browser has been highjacked, or your system has been
infected with certain spyware.
Shutting down SR, and deleting restore dates will reclaim extra space
and resources.
My personal opinion is that Ghost (or a number of other imaging tools)
is far superior for backup. But I have a question.... why so many
backups?
If you saved important day to day data on a separate partition (email
program, files, photos, ect.) One would think weekly backup would be
more than enough.

If it helps........ my strategy is to install NOTHING (that allows a
choice) on my C:\ drive. This keeps my OS drive relatively small (10
gigs, 4-1/2 used). All programs are installed, and anything I want
to save, are kept on separate partitions (or other drives). "C:\" is
the only drive necessary for me to backup, and can be completely
restored with Ghost in less than 7 min. All data/Programs are left
intact after restoring a backup.
I keep 2 images of my main drive, one made after a clean install ,
and 1 that is replaced monthly of current state. Not only do I have
weekly backup, but if I get a hair up my butt, and want to try
something different with the way I have Windows setup........ it takes
a few minutes for a clean install vs 1/2 an hour installing off a
Windows disc.
