KB943552 Junk Mail Filter - wont install

N

Name

I've just downloaded the latest junk mail filter for Outlook 2003 from
Microsoft (KB943552)
but it won't install. I get the message:
'The update cannot be applied' in a dialogue box with only an OK button
I've also unpacked the download and tried to run the ohotfix.exe
with the same result
I'm running Office 2003 on Vista 64bit if this has any relevance

Can anybody offer me any help please?

Thanks, tried that, though my registry entry is at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Delivery\{90110409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}
no joy
I've also searched the registry for 90000409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9
and changed each entry, one by one (one at a time then back) and tried to
install
the update each time. It still won't go in. Each time ending in the same
error
'The update cannot be applied'

When you are running ohotfix.exe, are you right clicking on it and selecting
RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR? If not, you should give that a go.

Try the following. Seems to work for most with same issue with Office 2003 and Outlook

1st Rename Office subkeys

Note: Removing the following registry keys may reset customized user
settings for your Microsoft Office programs.

1. Close all the applications.
2. Click on Start->Run, type in REGEDIT and click on OK.
3. Locate and select the following registry subkeys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0

4. Right click on 11.0 and rename them to Old11.
5. Close the Registry Editor.

2nd. Detect and Repair Office 2003

1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start, point to and click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Click Change/Remove Programs on the left pane.
4. Highlight Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 on the right pane
and click Change.
5. Insert the correct version of CD when it requires.
6. Select “Reinstall and Repair†and click Next.
7. Select “Detect and Repair errors in my Office installationâ€.
8. Click Install and wait the process to end.

3rd. Install the Updates

I've given that a go, and again no joy - what's more
I (in desperation) tried various options in
Programs and Features as it's now called in Vista: Repair, Change, and even
Uninstall none of these worked with or without the registry mods, so now I
can't uninstall office and start fresh! What am I to do?
the error message reads:
'This patch package could not be opened.
Verify that the patch package exists and
that you can access it, or contact the
application vendor to verify that this is a
valid Windows Installer patch package.'

that's with both standard 11.0 and old11.0

My registry entries are at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\11.0

the only thing I can think of that I haven't tried is putting in my office
CD and trying to install that way, but it will probably ask me to uninstall
any old versions before it can proceed
