KB937287 keeps showing up on my 64-bit Vista UE.

OK, I'm having the same problem as all of you. xiowan directed me here for an
answer but I see nothing. So I'm asking how to fix this, as I've said in a
previous post I get a successful install but wants me to keep updating the
same file, I've accidently installed the darn thing 4 times without knowing.

Is anyone else having problems installing this speific KB937287 update?
I am unable to get it to stop showing up in my 64-bit Vista UE's Windows
Update even though it was a success. All other today's updates were fine
except one (KB937287 failed) and then rebooted, but now KB937287 keeps
showing up even after successful installs.

Someone else noticed this too:

I posted the Windows Update log here:
http://myfreefilehosting.com/f/082571f8ca_1.3MB ... Everyone post yours
if you have this problem too so MS can figure out what is going on. :)

Using a SINGLE core 754 Athlon 64 3200+ CPU here. Yes, old and slow.
It's for testing purposes. Can't be a hardware thing except for 64-bit part.

It is a coincidence, I was getting the same issue on a dual core. But
if you look at a few posts above this you'll see that downloading the
standalone update will probably correct this.

Lazy, I doubt it. Reading the same question over and over again and not
knowing which thread is the real answer is tiresome. Just point out who has
the correct answer would be most appreciated, if it's not too much to ask.
You took the time to post so why not post the link or the user name.

Me too! Install, restart, update notice, install, restart, update notice, etc.

Anyone having problems updating Windows Defender in Vista 64bit?

If you are referring to me so what. And thanks for the link. Having to wade
through all this junk is tiresome. I don't think I have to use any
newsgroup...I don't usually have problems with Vista, this is a first for me
and hopefully the last. At least post something at the start with a sticky
because I have no desire to use newsgroup.

You are a lazy POS. I read the thread and found it. People like you are too
stupid to own a computer and waste everyone's time.

Manual patch fixed mine as well. Looking at the Knowledge Base article there
is no mention of a standalone installer, it would be helpful to mention that.
Thank you Harold!

Also, Kat, the extra 9mb is probably the installer itself.

Thanks problem solved.

Thanks Pa...Manual install worked for me too :)

Kat said:
Yep, manual patching fixes it.

Interesting that it appears as an 18k update in WU but a 9mb direct
download. The WU patch must be a preloader...

Thanks Harolds

Thanks for this solution. I was having the same problem with Windows Update,
and even tried doing a System Restore to see if that would help. That didn't
work...but your solution below seems to have worked. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Guys,

I have the same problem also. My Windows Update has *successfully
installed* KB937287 (TWICE) in my "Windows History," yet it keeps showing up
in my taskbar as an "Available Update."

According to Microsoft, this is a critical update which is "required for all
future updates," including Windows Vista SP-1.

Therefore, I suggest that someone at Microsoft supply a fix for whatever is
wrong IMMEDIATELY, if not sooner!

Best regards,

Elliot
