KB924191 Query

R

rooster

I just received the bulletin below. What seems unusual to me is that
when I began the install, I saw an alert that it required both a full
system backup before installation in addition to the usual restart.

Am I just paranoid or does the sysbackup protocol suggest this thing is
expected to cause serious problems on some PCs?

Hi Rooster
Wrong group - try the below - you will see there have been posts re this.
I assume you tried the install after the prob was found with KB924191 - mine
installed OK cos I do not use WU to update.
I go to the update page and always reboot whether prompted or not.
But I still have to install KB925672 :-(
I posted re this as well as others -

brief reason for a fix that is needed.

The problems that most people
encountered when the update went live were because Windows Update/Microsoft
Update was not properly seeing the patch was successful and a reboot was
requested. The update was installed for these cases. The update has been
fixed to properly detect when patch is successful and a reboot is required.

Thanks,
Peter Saddow

p.s. to my previous:

antioch;

Your gracious reply deserves a little further info.

Some of us using T-Bird have a lot of trouble with the "Search" function
in "Newsgroups".e.g.:
<http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=451787> There are several
other similar posts to the Moz Forums.

When I entered "KB924191" prior to my OP, nothing came up. This is a
common occurrence with "The Bird". Just now, I entered "KB92" and
the other posts did appear. Had I seen them before, I would of course
have taken the(your)cue and gone to the right ng.

I wanted to mention this because I assume this 'temperment' with T-Bird
makes the work of the MVPs and other informed contributors just that
more difficult by inflating the number of queries/threads unnecessarily.

Mozilla has been apprised; so, mayhap a fix is melding.

If OE is not an option?????????

If you are not searching within the subscribed group but ngs as a whole,
then you may have problems.
I assume you do the 'find' in right click on the group in which to search?

Good luck
