When I try to run these updates (with Automatic Update set). The install
screen appears stating that it is initialising. It then sits like that for
hours before I lose patience & kill the process.

How do I get round this ?

I also have a problem running MSBA, which starts up starts scanning my PC,
the scan takes forever, I then lose my patience after a few hours & I then
kill the process. The disk size is only 20mB. So I dont think it should take
so long.

Any ideas ?

You got alot of problems. What you need is to get your computer cleaned up
from all the Garbage you have on it.
You can get trial version of these softwares to tuneup your compter @
www.download.com ... and some are freeware.

- ad-aware SE personal
- microsoft antispyware
- executive software diskKeeper 9.0
- hijackThis
- bazooka
- advanced uninstaller pro 2005
- Privacy Guardian 4.0
- spybot-search & destroy
- spyware blaster
- tune-up utilities 2004
- registry mechanic
- spySubtract Pro

Believe it or not I have all them, and my computer runs like an F1.
Then check if your MBSA works. Then make sure your control panel manger
wuaucpl.cpl is enabled. To check this out I used my Advanced Uninstaller Pro
2005 to see if it's enabled or not ( I had the same problem -- it was
disabled).
