We just downloaded the 'new' KB 890830 tonight and when we looked at the log,
we see the following, which has us quite scared:

"Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool v1.29, May 2007
Started On Tue May 08 19:57:36 2007
->Scan ERROR: resource process://pid:976 (code 0x0000054F (1359))
->Scan ERROR: resource process://pid:2272 (code 0x0000054F (1359))
->Scan ERROR: resource service://Iomega Activity Disk2 (code 0x0000054F
(1359))
->Scan ERROR: resource process://pid:2272 (code 0x0000054F (1359))

Results Summary:
----------------
No infection found. Return code: 0
Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool Finished On Tue May 08
19:58:34 2007"

We never saw the "scan errors" before. We did run a chkdsk a few days ago.
Can anyone tell us if this is a serious problem(s)?
Please advise and thank you.

Thanks. So we shouldn't worry? Why would those items have shown up at all? As
I said, I never saw them before.

To determine just which programs are pid 976 and 2272 you can download
and run Process Explorer :
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/ProcessExplorer.mspx
Instructions for it's use are on that webpage.
Post back with the programs' names, please.

We looked at the page you supplied and saw the Process Explorer download as
SAVE or RUN. We didn't know which one to choose. We must say we are very,
very unsure as what to do with this program (Process Explorer) as we (my
husband and I) are novices with computers, downloading, etc.
A neighbor (who is now traveling to Europe) did delete our MRT.exe and did a
manual download. We then looked in the MRT log and this time saw:

I wouldn't worry, "No infection found."

The SAVE option copies the install file to wherever you wish.
The RUN option executes the installer.

I suggest that you save the file (and the default location is usually the
desktop). Then, when you are ready, you double click on the file to cause
it to execute.
