Downloaded several times with the same result. Any place else I can get
this file? Thanks.......
Bobby
I downloaded last night without any problems, but beware,
this product isn't what it's cracked up to be. It's a very
crude spyware removal tool that doesn't just target Kazaa
and "companion files". I ran it on my system and it found
69 files, which is amazing since I've never had Kazaa on
this sytem. That of course isn't the problem, the problem
is it's all or nothing with that program, there are no
options to deselect certain files and it doen't back them
up either. It's like throwing the baby out with the bath
water. Not to mention some of the files weren't spyware or
adware, just registration for some CD games. Try these
steps:
1. There is no substitute for doing a file search for
Kazaa on your computer and deleting the files it finds. If
it denies you access to a file because it's "in use", do
the search and delete in safe mode.
2.I would recommend you try Ad-aware, it's available at
www.lavasoft.com. It allows you to choose files that you
may want to keep (not all adware is bad,you may actually
want some of them)and it backs them up so you can
reinstall them if you accidently remove something you
didn't want to.
3.Download Spybot Search an Destroy from this URL:
http://www.safer-networking.org/ It also allows you to
choose files to keep and backs up those you choose to
delete. But be careful with this one too, you could easily
get some undesired results with it. Read their warnings.
4. Update your anti-virus software and scan for viruses as
Kazaa absolutely sends worms and trojans with the "shared"
files.
Bottom line is, there is no silver bullet that will take
care of Kazaa. It spyware and adware by design and it also
loads companion adware and spyware by design.
I "clean up" computers as part of my work, and if
Kazaabegone was any good, I'd use it. But it's not , so I
deleted it. Ad-aware and Spybot Search and Destroy are
much better products.
Good luck.
