Kazaa removal

Adsgone may have corrupted the installation of kazaa on my
windows XP computer. When I try to uninstall via control
panel, I get a message that Kazaa is running in the
background and to right click the kazaa ikon and click on
close background. There is no close on the pop up window.
How can I get kazaa to stop running so that I can remove
it and try reinstalling again.

You must have set Kazaa to run at startup. Open the main Kazaa window,
click on File- disconnect, and then File- exit. Or look in the options and
un-check the "launch at startup" or words to that effect and then reboot.
Or if all else fails (and it shouldn't) just ctrl-alt-del it into
submission. Really though, just shut Kazaa down- it's not that difficult to
figure out.

Then uninstall Kazaa.

Then, install and run AdAware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ to remove all of
the spyware/adware that the Kazaa uninstall deliberately leaves behind.

Then, install KazaaLite from here: http://doa2.host.sk/ It's the souped-up
but spyware-free version of Kazaa and has loads of extra features not
included in the official version.
