Kazaa Media Desktop 2.5

I downloaded this pgm a few months ago, then got hit by
blasterworm days later; tried to remove it, but I may
have deleted the uninstall file before I tried to remove
the pgm itself. Now it is still listed as a program in
Add/Remove and will not allow me to remove it. Should I
download it again, then un install the proper way? How do
I get it off my pgm list? Thanks for any help...

Re-download & reinstall it, then uninstall. Once you've done that, install
some anti-spyware software such as AdAware and remove all the spyware crap
that KaZaA installs on your PC...

If you remove the "extra goodies" that come with Kazaa
with Ad-aware, Kazaa won't work. I would suggest that you
install a "clean" p2p. Here are a few:
Winmx
Shareaza
E-Mule
Gnucleus
Blubster 1.2.3 (Later versions include adware)
Soulseek
BitTorrent
Direct Connect
piolet (music only)

No dont dl it agn. You dont have a anti virus program
installed do you? If not, that's the first thing to do.
Then run a full system scan and it should find the
blaster worm and want to quarintine the file, then you
can go into the quarantine section of the antivirus and
delete that sucker. Also you can go to www.symantec.com
and do a search for the blasterworm file name and it has
other methods of how to fix the problem if the 1st doesnt
fix it. BUT, if you dont have a antivirus and are going
to be on kazaa, imesh, etc than that's the 1st thing Id
do is get one. (Norton AntiVirus or PcCillin are good)

Thank you, Lorne. I am going to do that tonite and I will
post back & let you know how it went. I have XP set to
tells me who wants to put a cookie on my comp & if I want
to accept or block. I also update the list of
allowed/blocked cookies. I have tried so many pop up
killers and spyware pgms, that I cant remember if this is
the Adaware pgm, which my friend recommended to me.

Thanks mamabear, but I think u misunderstood what I was
trying to say (look at Lorne's response; she ans.'d my
question). I do have Norton AV already, got rid of the
blasterworm 5 days after I got hit, and already do have
WinMx (known as "Anubis God of the Dead928" on it). Do
you know if all these illegal music download lawsuits
include any files from the WinMX program?? I sure hope

Had the Norton AV when I got hit; just didnt have my
virus updated when I got hit. Did get rid of it 5 days
later. I also get emails from Symantec to alert me to new
viruses, which I immediatly update and do full system
scan; Live Update runs every 5 days, with a full system
scan every 7 days. Thanks for the info & help : )
