Kaspersky has 'processing error' when scanning RAR files and exe's.... What's goin on here?

Has anyone had this experience with Kaspersky Personal Edition 5 ?

In it's report (after a scan) it will show a bunch of files that had a
'processing error'.

I tried a manual scan of one of the files it listed. It was nothing
special, just an application file. approx 26mb.

It couldn't process it.

Same thing happened when Kaspersky tries to examine a large RAR file.

Any input ??

TIA

To say there's "nothing special" about a 26MB .EXE seems a tad odd. At
that size it is almost certainly an "all-in-one" installer, with the
setup program including as a resource, or bound to, the compressed
archive of all the other files and data needed to install some program.
Such files are bound to take quite some processing by KAV as it will
unpack as much of the included, compressed material as possible then
scan the contents...
It couldn't process it.

Same thing happened when Kaspersky tries to examine a large RAR file.

In both cases, running out of some memory or time resource would seem
likely explanations.

Have you asked KAV tech-support for an explanation??

I wrote their tech support an email.. but haven't heard anything from
them yet... that's why I decided to ask the people on here. Seems
like there's alot of knowledge in this group.
