I just transfered a hard drive, floppy drive, and a cd-R drive from
Dell, and I upgraded the Mobo to the K8 triton, with a AMD 3400+, a
well as two new sticks of kingston 512mb RAM. I've checked to mak
sure everything is connected, but whenever I turn the power on th
system wolln't post, I just get a 3 second beep from my mobo ever
three seconds, any thoughts on what could be wrong

Had that on my K8NSC-939 mobo the other day when i fired it up, also running
a K8 chip, but at 3200. On my board that was the "DRAM ERROR" code, should
be a list of beepcodes near the end of the mobo manual. I took one of my
512 sticks out of the first bank and moved it to the number one positoin on
the second bank to take it out of DRAM and it booted. Of course it then
only saw 256mb of RAM in win System Info, so i removed the stick from back
two completely and it reported the accurate figure of 512bm from my
remaining stick... My memory was matched on type and speed, but were
different manufactors. My ASUS P4C800E Intel handled the mismatch just fine
and iw as able to run dual channel with no probs. Seems the Gigabyte board
is a bit more finicky on memory, just ordered and installed a "Matched" set
of 512mb Corsair chips from newegg and the thing is working great now,
reporting 128bit dual channel at 1024MB just like it should.

I would try taking your board out of the dual channel configuraion, IE put
sticks int he first and third slots (as seen with processor to the left)
instead of first and second, seeif it boots and what it reports. Could be
that those two sticks are just different enough that it doesn't like them
for some reason (or perhaps one isn't seated all the way, something blocking
one of the contacts like dust etc...)
