in FP02 I was able to pick out the server that my web host used(apache) so I
could publish to it using FP Extensions, now when I upgraded I don't have
that feature, and I can't find help for it, because my web host uses the old
version of FP

There's not much difference between FP2002 & FP2003 as far as publishing
goes.

File | Publish Site (in 02 it was File | Publish Web)

FP2002 extensions are the current ones.

Thats not what I mean, under tools/Site Settings(i think)/General tab, there
was a setting where I could choose, what server to use, now IN FP03 it says
no server currently in use

Thats for the server you are running (if you installed IIS & extensions) on
your machine. If there is none in use, you are working with disc-based webs.

That means you are not logged onto a server based web.
You need to open a web

sorry, for my confusion, but I still need help, I have XP home, but when I
had FP02 in site settings, in the general tab I was able to select the server
that my webhost used, so it could publish, now With FP03, I don't have that
capability.

If you can help please reply,
and thanks for trying to help me:_-(

Home does not support a server, so you will end up using disc-based webs.

Open your web on your local machine, then just publish it to your
server...BUT if this is a new install on your machine and your server web is
current you should Publish from your server (online server) to your
disc-based web location on your home machine.

So...open FP, Open Site, type in your http://www.webname.com and open your
site live. Then File | Publish Site to your C:\ drive location. Because of
no server on local machine it will NOT be to http://localhost/whatever

Do a full publish.

Yes but is it the particular web you have open one that is on a server??
The server properties you're talking about are only available if you have a
server based web open such as http://yourweb.com or if on IIS
http://localhost/webname
It will not be available ( will be grayed out ) if you have a "disk based"
web open.
